Developing Semiconductor Hardware for Critical Technologies

Summary:

UK-registered businesses can apply for a share of up to £5 million. These feasibility studies will investigate ways to improve semiconductor design and manufacture within the UK to support critical technologies.

Eligibility criteria:

This competition is open to single applicants and collaborations.

To lead a project or work alone, your organisation must:

  • be a UK-registered business of any size
  • be or involve at least one grant claiming micro, small or medium-sized enterprise (SME)

To collaborate with the lead, your organisation must be one of the following UK-registered:
business of any size

  • academic institution
  • charity
  • not for profit
  • public sector organisation
  • research and technology organisation (RTO)
Additional information:

This competition aims to encourage the exploration of the feasibility of innovative ideas with the potential to advance semiconductor hardware and contribute to the UK's global competitiveness in critical technologies.

Your project must:

  • have a total grant funding request of between £75,000 and £300,000
  • start by 1 September 2025
  • end by 28 February 2026

Applications open on 14 April and close on 29 May 2025.
