Employment Advocacy Service

Summary:

Specialist advice for employers/employees on disability in the workplace with guidance on reasonable adjustments, positive action and best practice.

Eligibility criteria:
  • People using this service must have a disability.
  • The employment issue or query must be directly linked to the disability.
  • The employment issue/query must centre on getting into, remaining in, or progressing in work.
  • Employees must live and work in Northern Ireland.

Disability Action will prioritise people with significant multiple disabilities and those who do not have other sources of support.

Additional information:

The Employment Advocacy Service can provide information and support to disabled employees and their employers in the following ways:

  • telephone/ SMS messages
  • email / post
  • face-to-face contact with employees and their employers

The service can help employers by:

  • awareness raising activities
  • helping them target disabled people as employees
  • developing actions to encourage recruitment and retention of employees with disabilities
