Employment Advocacy Service
Summary:
Specialist advice for employers/employees on disability in the workplace with guidance on reasonable adjustments, positive action and best practice.
Eligibility criteria:
- People using this service must have a disability.
- The employment issue or query must be directly linked to the disability.
- The employment issue/query must centre on getting into, remaining in, or progressing in work.
- Employees must live and work in Northern Ireland.
Disability Action will prioritise people with significant multiple disabilities and those who do not have other sources of support.
Additional information:
The Employment Advocacy Service can provide information and support to disabled employees and their employers in the following ways:
- telephone/ SMS messages
- email / post
- face-to-face contact with employees and their employers
The service can help employers by:
- awareness raising activities
- helping them target disabled people as employees
- developing actions to encourage recruitment and retention of employees with disabilities
