Do you want to know more about how to do business in Australia and/or New Zealand? Are you keen to understand how the Free Trade Agreement can support your business aspirations in Australia and/or New Zealand?
The UK-Australia and the UK-New Zealand Free Trade Agreements entered into force on 31 May 2023. The Free Trade Agreements bring benefits to both countries including:
- zero tariffs on UK goods exports
- unprecedented access for services
- flexible rules of origin and customs processes
The Department for Business and Trade (DBT) team will take to the road to visit six cities across the UK offering interactive sessions to help you understand the opportunities for exporting to Australia and New Zealand.
Belfast Roadshow
The Belfast roadshow will take place from 9.15am - 3pm on Thursday 7 March 2024 at the Maldron Hotel.
The main programme will start with an economic and political overview of Australia and New Zealand, from:
- UK High Commissioner in Australia Vicki Treadell
- His Majesty Trade Commissioner for Asia-Pacific Martin Kent
- Deputy Trade Commissioner for Asia-Pacific Louse Cantillon
- Consul General & Trade Counsellor in New Zealand, Stephen Cartwright
The speakers will highlight key commercial opportunities/tenders and provide insights into maximising the benefits of the UK's new Free Trade Agreements with Australia and New Zealand.
The event will be a chance to hear from companies that are already exporting to Australia and New Zealand, who will share their firsthand experiences and advice. Speakers will include a Freight Forwarder to explain the practicalities of shipping goods to ANZ. Hear about the full range of support available for companies offered by the Department for Business and Trade.
The morning session is suitable for all exporters, whether you're seeking to enhance your market presence or a newcomer eager to understand more about the Australia and New Zealand markets.
The afternoon session will focus primarily on the aerospace, defence and security sectors, chaired by Northern Ireland’s Honorary Consul for New Zealand, Caroline Keenan, and remarks from a representative from the Australian High Commission on opportunities arising from the AUKUS partnership. In the afternoon, there will also be an opportunity to book 1:1 appointments with representatives from the Department for Business and Trade.
