New initiative to help businesses leverage 5G for growth and innovation

The Belfast 5G Innovation Region programme, led by Belfast City Council, is working with businesses, academia, and the public sector to support the adoption of 5G and other advanced wireless networks in key high-growth industry sectors in the Belfast Region.

Belfast City Council is keen to hear from businesses and organisations interested in engaging in the programme and a new 5G funding competition.

The programme is currently working with a range of partners to deliver a series of commercially focused use cases that leverage 5G's potential in the following sectors:

  • transport and logistics
  • creative industries
  • construction
  • advanced manufacturing

Partners include the Belfast Harbour, Ulster University and Studio Ulster, Queen's University Belfast's Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre and Translink.

If you're interested in engaging in the 5G Innovation Region programme or applying to the funding competition to develop 5G use cases, register your interest now.

To further drive adoption, the Belfast 5G Innovation Region funding competition has now launched, offering grants of up to £100,000 to projects that are using 5G and other advanced wireless connectivity to deliver outcomes in the Belfast Region.
