Business support programme for co-ops
Are you looking to start or expand a co-operative? The Business Support Programme provides expert guidance to support co-ops at every stage
Previously known as The Hive, the Business Support Programme offers up to six days of tailored expert support for those aiming to start, develop, or convert to a co-op. Supported by the Co-operatives UK and The Co-operative Bank, this programme is open to anyone in Northern Ireland wanting to launch, grow, or convert to a co-operative.
Who can apply?
To qualify for the Business Support Programme, applicants should be:
- a group of at least two planning to register a co-op in the UK within 12 months
- an existing co-op incorporated in the UK within the last 18 months or not yet trading
- an existing organisation planning to convert to a co-op within the next 12 months, incorporated for less than 18 months or not yet trading
What the programme offers
The Business Support Programme offers up to six days of one-to-one support with a co-op expert covering topics like:
- selecting the appropriate legal structure
- business plan review and development
- financial and market strategy
- membership strategy and democratic processes
