Take your technology from lab to marketplace

The Enterprise Fellowships programme is a 12-month accelerator designed to help researchers and graduates turn groundbreaking engineering innovations into disruptive spinouts and startups.

Run by the Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng), this programme offers:

  • equity-free grant of up to £75,000
  • 75 hours of expert training
  • access to a network of 100+ investors
  • subsidised access to Culture+, a diversity and inclusion platform for startups
  • 1:1 business coaching and mentoring from leading engineers and RAEng Fellows
  • lifetime access to RAEng co-working spaces in London and Belfast

Awardees may also receive support from RAEng for a UK Global Talent Visa.

Eligibility

The programme supports aspiring entrepreneurs who are:

  • university researchers planning to spin out from UK or Irish universities and research institutes
  • recent graduates founding their first startup
  • non-UK nationals completing, or recently completed, a PhD at a UK university

Applications close on 24 February 2025.

Applicant workshops

RAEng offers online workshops to help applicants submit strong applications for the Enterprise Fellowships programme. Sessions cover the process, expectations, tips, and include a Q&A. Available dates are 16 January, 24 January, 3 February and 13 February 2025.

RAEng also hosts workshops for Tech Transfer Officers to support research commercialisation professionals in the UK and Ireland. Available dates are 19 February, 28 February, 6 March, 12 March and 21 March 2025.
