Expressions of interest open for AI Growth Zones

Submit your interest in the development of AI Growth Zones

The UK government is inviting expressions of interest (EOIs) in developing Artificial intelligence (AI) Growth Zones.

These zones will help attract investment in AI-enabled data centres and infrastructure by improving access to power and providing planning support. They aim to boost innovation, create high-skilled jobs, and strengthen the UK’s AI sector.

Who can apply?

Expressions of interest (EOI) are open to:

• local councils and key decision-makers with potential sites for AI infrastructure
• industry partners, including data centre developers and energy firms, with large-scale AI infrastructure plans

What the government is looking for

The government is particularly interested in proposals that:

• identify sites with 500MW+ potential AI capacity
• have existing large power connections or a plan to secure them
• support AI research, innovation, skills, and energy solutions

This EOI is not a formal application but will help shape future policy and investment. A full application process will open in Spring 2025.
