New report identifies emerging technologies that Innovate UK believes will shape the business landscape

Innovate UK, the UK's innovation agency, has released a report outlining 50 emerging technologies with the potential to transform our daily lives.

From potentially life-saving new biological advances to fully autonomous vehicles, these innovations represent the cutting edge of technological breakthroughs currently in development.

The report, a first of its kind, categorises these technologies into seven groups crucial to the UK economy, spanning:

• artificial intelligence
• digital and computing
• advanced materials and manufacturing
• electronics, photonics and quantum
• energy and environmental
• biotechnology, health and medical
• robotics and space

These technologies are still in early development but have been selected based on factors such as market potential, disruptive capabilities, and positive societal impact.

The report aims to inspire businesses to consider the commercial applications of these technologies, potentially leading to job creation and economic growth.

While the list is not exhaustive and not ranked, the report offers insights into technologies approximately 20 years away from widespread use.
