Project Stratum: Public review for additional eligible premises for broadband scheme
Views of infrastructure providers, residents and businesses sought to identify premises initially classified as ineligible for the broadband scheme
Project Stratum is the broadband improvement scheme aimed at upgrading broadband infrastructure to premises across Northern Ireland that cannot access Next Generation Access (NGA) broadband services.
On conclusion in early 2025, the project will have benefitted 85,000 premises giving them access to broadband capable of delivering download speeds of at least 30Mbps.
While Project Stratum has brought full fibre access to areas across Northern Ireland, a number of premises in the project area were not identified as eligible. In some cases, this was due to claims in regards to NGA coverage or because insufficient data was available.
The Department for the Economy now wishes to identify those premises, particularly in neighbourhoods to be targeted as part of the NGA intervention area.
How you can help
The Department is requesting information and supporting evidence in relation to NGA broadband infrastructure within the project area, and wishes to hear from all relevant stakeholders, including residents, businesses and broadband infrastructure operators, particularly those in the NGA intervention area.
