Funded procurement contracts for renewable energy projects

Innovate UK is delivering a new Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) competition as part of the Zero Emission Generators (ZE-Gen) programme, to support renewable energy-based alternatives to fossil fuel generators.

ZE-Gen is co-funded by the Department for Science Innovation and Technology and the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office, and forms part of the Ayrton Fund and Transforming Energy Access programmes.

The aim of this SBRI competition is to demonstrate the capability, applicability and scalability of integrated renewable replacements for fossil fuel generators in Official Development Assistance (ODA) countries across the Sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia and Indo-Pacific regions.

Projects must demonstrate a credible and practical route to market. Projects can include prototyping, demonstrating, piloting, testing and validation of new or improved products, processes or services in environments representative of real-life operating conditions.

The primary objective is to make further technical improvements on products, processes or services that are not substantially set.

This is a single-phase competition. The projects can range in size between £500,000 and £1 million, inclusive of VAT.
