UK Global Screen Fund

Funding for UK's independent screen sector
The UK Global Screen Fund helps UK independent film, TV, documentary, animation, and interactive narrative games compete globally. It’s funded by the UK government and run by the British Film Institute (BFI) to support international growth and collaboration.
Funding is offered under three strands.
Strand 1: International Distribution
Supports the sale, marketing, and promotion of UK feature films in international markets. Grants are available of up to:
- £15,000 - festival launch support
- £25,000 - film sales support
- £100,000 - prints and advertising support
Open for applications on a rolling basis.
Strand 2: International Business Development
Helps businesses grow internationally and develop their intellectual property (IP). Funding ranges from £50,000 to £200,000 over three years. There are two application tracks:
- Film Transformation Track - focuses on UK independent film
- General Track - supports all eligible screen sectors to increase revenue and visibility
Opens for applications in April 2025.
Strand 3: International Co-production
Supports global partnerships for feature films and TV projects. Up to £300,000 is available for co-productions where the UK producer is a minority partner or where multiple broadcasters fund the project.
Round 1 closes on 3 April 2025 (or 6 March for fast-track applications).
Who can apply
UK-based independent screen companies can apply. The fund gives extra consideration to projects reflecting the culture and talent of Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and regions outside Greater London.
Each funding strand has its own guidelines to help you apply. These explain how to prepare a good application, how to apply, and what happens next.
