Unlocking innovation: Automotive sector call
Opportunity for local automotive businesses to advance their digital capabilities
Local businesses from the automotive and related sectors can submit project proposals to the third call of the Innovation in Digital Engineering - Automotive Sector (IDEAS) programme.
Proposals should blend new and existing digital technologies to make logistics, engineering and manufacturing processes across the UK automotive industry faster, more accurate, and efficient.
Proposals can address one of two themes:
- design and development
- sustainable supply chain and production
Projects should focus on using artificial intelligence (AI) for modelling and simulation, scalable AI, supercomputing, and quantum computing.
Supported by the Advanced Propulsion Centre UK, the IDEAS programme is run by the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC), part of Hartree National Centre for Digital Innovation, and IBM Research.
The programme does not directly fund businesses, but covers expenses related to computing resources and staff (within the STFC and IBM Research).
This gives businesses a fully-funded opportunity to tap into the advanced facilities and resources of these organisations, to help them drive innovation and stay ahead in the global automotive scene.
Businesses can submit their expressions of interest by 4 June 2024.
To be eligible, organisations must be registered at Companies House, have an engineering or manufacturing base in the UK, and intend to exploit project results within the UK.
